Environmental Advisors

Blargoans Ltd have 12-month contract opportunities for 2 x Environmental Advisors to work within our client’s facility in Caithness.

Job Description

The purpose of the post is to provide environmental support to the Client to promote and documents compliance with environmental legislation and adherence to the environmental safety strategy. The Job Holder is responsible for delivering environmental advice on compliance requirements and the site’s environmental safety strategy and preparing documentation for the client’s site and projects.

Main Responsibilities

The Job Holder will:

  • Implement improvements in the Environmental Management System
  • Act as a key stakeholder in a range of environmental processes, including DMRs, HAZOPs, UNOR investigations to implement management systems, standards and procedures
  • Provide environmental advice to facilities and project teams
  • Produce environmental documentation in line with legislative and project requirements, including aspects assessments, BPM assessments and environmental support files
  • Provide specialist environmental support to interface with SEPA on behalf of facilities and project teams
  • Review the efficacy of environmental arrangements and resources in their area
  • Undertake internal checks for the environmental arrangements in their area
  • Participate in arrangements for the sharing of environmental knowledge and support to other site environmental specialists
  • Deliver site and plant specific environment process and awareness training
  • Deliver specified tasks from the Client’s improvement plan
  • Provide technical secretarial support to relevant environmental committees
  • Represent the Client at internal forums
  • Perform the responsibilities of Management Appointments relevant to post
  • Be appointed to RWA Corporate Body

 

Desirable Attributes and Experience

Qualified to HND in Environmental Studies or equivalent qualification plus experience.

Experience: 3 years relevant environmental operations experience

Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment is desirable

 

Experience in the following areas:

  • supporting Optioneering assessments and assisting in the documentation of BPM documents (or equivalent i.e., BAT demonstration/justification documents
  • working within engineering systems and sub-systems and understanding environment impacts resulting from their operation
  • complying with Environmental Permits (i.e., an RSR EPR permit, an EPR permit or EASR18), preferably working on a facility which held an environmental permit for its operations.
  • providing advise to operations and maintenance staff to ensure compliance with environmental permits and management system requirements
  • engaging with Environmental Regulators would be desirable
  • understanding of Scottish Environmental Legislation relevant to a nuclear decommissioning facility

 

 

Terms and Conditions

Basic Annual Income – £37,935 – £65,223, overtime rates apply as standard – Salary dependent on experience

37.9 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Annual Holiday Entitlement: 25 days annual leave, 8 public holidays, 2.5 privilege holidays.

12 Month Contract

SC Clearance will be required for this position
