Operator
Blargoans Ltd have a 12-month contract opportunity for an Operator to work within our client’s facility in Caithness.
The purpose of the post is to undertake driving and operational duties within the waste transport team in support of the safe decommissioning of site. This includes transportation of waste and project plant/equipment both on and off site, as well as providing logistics and operational support to projects carried out in the low level waste stores and facilities.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate heavy plant such as forklift trucks (up to 48Te), telehandlers, tractors, and trailers
- Be prepared to undertake terberg shuntmaster training
- Carry out routine and non-routine vehicle activities including pre-use inspections and defect reporting, collection, and transportation of wastes and other logistic related tasks in support of site projects as appropriate
- Prepare and distribute various types of approved waste containers and packages to projects
- Undertake operational monitoring
- Carry out routine plant, fire and emergency checks identifying unusual trends and system/component failures and assist in its resolution
- Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to the post
Aptitudes and Experience
- Plant qualifications for forklift truck, telehandler, and tractor
- Experience of operating plant and machinery
- HGV class 1 would be preferrable but not essential
- A good understanding of the safe operations of heavy industrial plant and transport operations both on and off-site
- Good attitude and willingness to contribute to a positive safety culture
- Basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Successful candidate may be expected to undergo DV security clearance
Terms and Conditions
Basic Annual Income – £25,963 to £35,864 overtime rates apply as standard.
37.9 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Every third Friday being a non-working day.
Annual Holiday Entitlement: 25 days annual leave, 8 public holidays, 2.5 privilege holidays
12 Month Contract
