Project Supervisor
Blargoans Ltd have a 12-month contract opportunity for a Project Supervisor to work within our client’s facility in Caithness.
We are seeking a hands-on and safety-conscious Project Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day execution of asbestos-related works across site. The role involves supervising Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractors (LARCs), coordinating site logistics, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
The Project Supervisor will play a key role in the safe and effective delivery of asbestos-related works across a complex operational site. This position involves direct supervision of Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractors (LARCs), coordination of site logistics, and ensuring strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The Supervisor will also support the wider construction and demolition team, contributing to broader project activities as required. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in high-risk environments.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise on-site asbestos removal activities, ensuring adherence to method statements, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for LARCs and scaffold contractors during active works.
- Monitor site conditions and contractor performance, escalating issues to the Project Manager as required.
- Support the setup and management of enclosures, transit routes, and waste handling procedures.
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of work fronts.
- Ensure accurate site records are maintained, including daily logs, clearance certificates, and incident reports.
- Liaise with internal UKAS lab and external analytical contractors to support air monitoring and 4-stage clearance processes.
- Support site inductions and toolbox talks for contractors and visitors.
- Assist the wider construction and demolition team with supervision, coordination, and site readiness tasks as needed.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience supervising asbestos removal or similar hazardous material projects
- Strong working knowledge of HSE regulations and site safety protocols
- Ability to read and interpret RAMS, site drawings, and technical documentation
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Comfortable working in high-risk environments and confined spaces
- Proficient in basic IT systems for record keeping and reporting
- Temporary Works Supervisor Training primarily looking at Scaffolding
Desirable:
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification
- Experience working with Asbestos Material, UKAS-accredited labs or analytical contractors
- Familiarity with scaffold planning and contractor liaison
Terms and Conditions
Basic Annual Income – £38,354 to £59,998 overtime rates apply as standard.
37.9 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Every third Friday being a non-working day.
Annual Holiday Entitlement: 25 days annual leave, 8 public holidays, 2.5 privilege holidays
12 Month Contract
Security Clearance – Vacancy requires candidate to undergo security clearance checks
